A visit to the island of Ischia, to discover the treasures of the nestore cup of 700 BC and lunch with bucatino and rabbit all’ischitana.

We will leave from Casamicciola, direction Lacco Ameno we will pass by the extraordinary mushroom, a rocky boulder that emerges from the waters. When the Greeks landed in this place they brought vines and wine, leaving numerous ceramics that can be admired in the archaeological museum attached to the Church of Santa Restituta. The greatest treasure is the legendary cup of Nestore of the eighth century BC, on display at the Archaeological Museum of Villa shrub that was once inhabited by Angelo Rizzoli, famous film producer of the 50s. Its importance lies in the engraving in three verses that represents one of the oldest examples of Greek writing: “I am the beautiful cup of Nestore, who will drink from this cup immediately will take it the desire of Aphrodite from the beautiful crown”.

We will reach Forio, a charming seaside town, home of the Chiesa del Soccorso, with numerous shops and restaurants and a lively evening atmosphere.

To the south of the island we will find Sant’angelo which was once a fishing town with a typical Mediterranean style, white houses, numerous bars and restaurants at the port.

It starts at the turn of Serrara Fontana, the highest area of the island. We’re stopping. Before lunch it takes a good Aperol Spritz to enjoy on a terrace with a breathtaking view!

We will have lunch in the restaurant bucatino and coniglio all’ischitana, a typical dish of the island.

We will reach Barano with its immense beach of 4 km that we will see from above. We will continue to Ischia Ponte, with its ancient village, the Aragonese Castle, alleys and handicraft shops.

We’ll be back at the hotel this afternoon.

We visit the town of Lacco Ameno, continue to the town of Forio, Chiesa del Soccorso overlooking the sea, Sant’Angelo (stop and free visit for 30 minutes), Serrara Fontana with a stop on the panoramic terrace for an aperitif with Aperol Spritz.

12.30 pm lunch at the Bucatino and Coniglio all’ischitana restaurant.

At 14:00 departure for Barano, stop at the Maronti viewpoint. Continuation to Ischia Ponte (with stop and free visit of 10 minutes).

At 16:00 arrival at the hotel.
