Marianna was born in Ischia and grew up in a family that has been working in the hospitality industry since the 1950s. Strengthened by the passion transmitted to her, she obtained a degree in science of tourism, specializing with a master in sustainable and responsible tourism. She loves her island like nothing and nobody else and renews this love every time she travels around the world for business or pleasure. The passion that animates her leads her to show the hidden beauties of the land where she lives to the tourists who come to visit it, with particular attention to environmental and social sustainability. The sea is her element and she moves with ease even among chestnut trees and rows of vines. While you are sipping a glass of local wine or tasting the rabbit cooked all’Ischitana, Marianna, with the spontaneity that distinguishes her, will tell you the origins and motivations of this love, involving you and making you feel part of your journey.

Day 1

Arrival, accommodation in room. In the evening, welcome drink, delivery of the detailed programme.

Second day

Breakfast at the hotel. At 09.00 am pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the meeting point. (In some periods the excursion can start in the afternoon)

We will reach Campagnano, the oldest from a geological point of view and perhaps the least known and least visited on the island. The route begins by skirting the splendid Bay of Cartaromana at the bottom of which the remains of “Aenaria”, the submerged settlement from the Roman era, are still visible.

We continue along an easy path that skirts several gorges and ravines into which steep terraces of vines converge, supported by dry stone walls of black local lava (the “parracine”): an artificial landscape created by heroic farmers over hundreds of years.

We will continue through Mediterranean scrub and a chestnut grove to Monte Vezzi, a 392 m high volcanic dome.

We will continue until we reach the farming village of Piano Liguori, where time seems to have stopped at the beginning of the 1900s and we will enjoy the view of Punta San Pancrazio (156 m. above sea level) with its characteristic little church overlooking the sea.

We will descend from the top and arrive at the “Scarrupata di Barano”, a high cliff overlooking the sea whose walls show interesting and clear examples of stratified volcanic materials (tuff, pumice, lapilli, white ash, trachytic rock) and from which we can enjoy one of the most beautiful and uncontaminated views of the “Green Island”. On this side of the island we can admire one of the few colonies of Corsican Seagulls (Larus audouinii) in southern Italy.

Along the way we will come across several wine cellars carved into the rock and it will also be possible to stop at an old trattoria located on one of the many terraces in the area overlooking the splendid scenery of the open sea with Procida, Vivara, Capri and the Amalfi Coast in front of us.

We will complete the route by returning to Campagnano.

PARTICIPATION FEE including excursion

A deposit of 30% of the stay is required at the time of booking. In the event of cancellation, changes or no-show, the deposit will be retained as a penalty.

Balance at the hotel. In case of early departure, the entire amount of the stay will be charged.
