In the nourished Ischia hagiography stands out the figure of Santa Restituta, celebrated in Lacco Ameno, from 16 to 18 May, with a procession at sea. The event recalls one of the most recurring legends around the African saint: after the martyrdom immediately in Carthage, the young Restituta should have been burned at sea. The fire, however, burned the boat but left intact the body of the woman who, carried by the Angels, lay on the shore of San Montano.
